Six New Members Commit to SSJ Women's Leadership Certification Program

The Sisters of Saint Joseph Women’s Leadership Certification Program inducted six new members at a commitment ceremony held on Thursday, December 6 in The Aquinas Chapel.

The SSJ Women’s Leadership Program, which began at Nazareth Academy, has been available to young women in grades 9-12 at Aquinas for eight years now. As a member, each young woman:

* Learns and leads with her God-given ability
* Nurtures and develops innate leadership skills
* Grows in self-knowledge, dignity and worth
* Finds her own voice for self and for the broader community
* Makes the world a better place with a spirit of compassion and service
* Is a servant leader
* Discovers new talents
* Enjoys who she is as a spiritual, emotional, physical and knowledgeable person

Each student explores the wonder of self and experiences other women in roles of leadership through seminars, mini-sessions, panels, films, guest speakers, and field trips. Service projects are a key component.

At graduation, those who have made the commitment to the program will receive the Women’s Leadership certificate along with their Aquinas Institute diploma and will wear a blue and gold cord.

We’d like to thank Sister Sharon Bailey SSJ, President of the Sisters of St. Joseph for her remarks and being part of yesterday’s celebration. Please applaud the following young women for their focus and their efforts as they choose to work toward the honor of certification:
