Meet the Advancement Team

In an effort to drive efficiencies and combine several vital functions, Aquinas formed the Office of Advancement, which includes alumni relations, development, enrollment, marketing, communications, and public relations. We look forward to happily serving the Aquinas community.

    • A. Cook, EdD '99

Anthony Cook, Ed.D. ’99 is the President and Secretary of the Aquinas Institute. Prior to his return to AQ in September 2019, where he previously taught social studies and coached football and track and field, Cook was the Superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Rochester (2013-2019) and served as Principal at Seton Catholic School (2011-2013).
He holds a doctorate in education from the University of Rochester, a master's degree in educational administration from the University of Notre Dame, and both a bachelor's and master's degree from the State University of New York College at Geneseo.

    • J. Knapp

Joseph B. Knapp is the Executive Director of Advancement at The Aquinas Institute, directing all activities currently orchestrated by the Office of Alumni Relations & Development, and the Office of Enrollment & Communications. Prior to this role, Joby shared his passion for the school’s mission and future as Director of Enrollment and Public Relations, a position he held for 26 years. He and his wife, Wende, have two dogs, Dexter and Gracie Lou. Joby is also an avid fan of his alma mater, Bowling Green, as well as the Cincinnati Reds, Tottenham Hotspur, and all things AQ!

    • L. Clicquennoi '84

Lisa Clicquennoi '84 is the Database Administrator for the Advancement Office.  In this role, Lisa manages the Aquinas alumni database, assisting with the operational vitality of Aquinas. In her 20 years of service with Aquinas, Lisa has worked as Alumni Relations Officer, Communications Coordinator and Admissions Associate, Engagement Specialist and Attendance Officer.

    • K. Dobson

Karen Dobson is the Administrative Assistant for the Offices of the President and the Advancement Office team. She joined AQ with a great deal of experience, having held positions at the University of Rochester and Xerox Corporation working with senior executive leadership and coordinating events for Xerox's most distinguished clients. Karen is married and enjoys a round of golf on weekends with her friends.

    • M. Kallfelz

Meredith Kallfelz is the Associate Director of Advancement for Enrollment and Communications. She has managed all facets of the school’s communications since 2013, and in 2017, began working in enrollment. Meredith holds a degree in public relations and advertising, and enjoys spending time with her husband and twin daughters, (AQ Class of 2035!).

    • L. Martone '97

Lisa Martone '97 is the Coordinator of the Aquinas Fund, focusing on the Aquinas Fund and broadening opportunities for engagement at Aquinas. Lisa has a strong commitment to Catholic education. Her background includes sales executive and director roles focused on revenue growth and strategic planning to meet specific metrics. She possesses a Master of Science in Biology and Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Russell Sage College.

    • A. Nagel

Anita Nagel is the Associate Director, Events and Alumni Engagement, focusing on the execution of all events. She is the main point of contact for all reunion planning and upcoming AQ events. Anita joined Aquinas in 2008, having worked in Catholic education for over two decades in recruitment and student services. Anita’s twin daughters attended Aquinas.

    • J. Polston '90

Jay P. Polston '90 is an Associate Director, Major Gifts and Planned Giving. After graduating from Aquinas Jay attended Springfield College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services. Jay and his wife, Mary Kay, have two daughters and two family dogs – Lola and Rudy. Prior to Aquinas, Jay was employed for 22 years with The YMCA of Greater Rochester. His interests include his self-run Notre Dame Football Fan website, racquetball, and boating.

    • V. Arieno '14

Vanessa Arieno ’14 is the Enrollment and Communications Coordinator, handling the initial contact with prospective AQ families and helping them through the admissions process. Vanessa manages AQ’s social media pages along with assisting in media projects for Aquinas. Vanessa holds a degree in communications and writing from Niagara University, and is an avid traveler.
