Band & Choir Win Big at Music Fest '18

Aquinas’ talented student musicians from band, concert choir and advanced choir impressed judges at Music Fest ’18 this past weekend at Darien Lake. The three ensembles took home a number of awards for the pieces they performed.

 

Concert Choir placed first with their performance of “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd,” “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” and “Wait For It” from Hamilton.

 

Advanced Choir placed first with their performance of “Highland Mary,” “If I Loved You” from Carousel, and “Alleluia” by Randall Thompson. The group also earned the Judges Award for best overall ensemble.

The Aquinas band placed third performing “Leia's Theme” from Star Wars, the first two movements of “Carmina Burana,” and music from West Side Story.

 

Aquinas freshman Nick Novellin took home an award for Outstanding Vocal Soloist for his performance of “Wait For It.”

 

AQ choir director, Andy Pratt, and AQ band director, Brian White, expressed how proud they are of these students and their accomplishments.
