The Lenten Season Begins

Learning how to be a "Light in the Darkness"
Wednesday, February 14 marked the beginning of the Lenten Season as we celebrated Ash Wednesday with a Scripture Service and distributed Ashes.

Our schoolwide theme for Lent this year is “Light In The Darkness.” As we move through Lent and our lives, we are called to not only embrace the Light of God, our Savior, Jesus Christ, but we are also called to invite Him into the dark areas of our lives and also to be a light in the darkness through our Lenten sacrifice.

Pope Francis in his Message for Lent calls the Church to take Lent to “experience this time of grace anew, with joy and in truth. [Taking a] cue from the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew: ‘”Because of the increase of iniquity, the love of many will grow cold”’ (24:12).”

As Lent is an opportunity to reflect and to prepare for the joy of Easter, please take time to focus on family, pray, fast, find the good in each other and the world, be patient, volunteer, and learn to love like Christ.
