Seidenberg '18 presented with Award of Excellence
Maggie Seidenberg'18 was presented with an official Award of Excellence for her participation at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston, Massachusetts this summer where she not only represented Aquinas, but also New York State.

With her hopes set on a career in medicine, Maggie had the chance to surround herself with fellow high school students who share her aspirations in this honors only Congress. Together, they watched a live surgery and had a chance to question the surgeon in real time.

They were taught by some of the brightest minds in medicine and science, who gave inspirational talks, including:
  • Sir Richard Roberts, Ph.D., Winner of the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine;
  • Mario Capecchi, Ph.D., Winner, 2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and Recipient of the National Medal of Science;
  • Leland Hartwell, Ph.D., Winner, 2001 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine;
  • J. Craig Venter, Ph.D., Winner, Presidential National Medal of Science; and
  • Michael S. Brown, M.D., Winner of the 1985 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and Recipient of the National Medal of Science;
Medical school academic leaders who guided and mentored the students at the Congress included:
  • David Roberts, M.D., Dean of External Education at Harvard Medical School; and
  • Stephen Ray Mitchell, M.D., MBA, Dean for Medical Education at Georgetown University.
 
We sincerely congratulate Maggie on this accomplishment and are excited to see where her future medical career takes her.
