Kayla Jackson Selected for Section V BCANY Basketball Team

Aquinas is proud to announce that senior Kayla Jackson has been selected to the Section V BCANY Basketball Team.

More than 40 players from all over Monroe County, as well as players from Pavilion, Wayne, Bath and other towns tried out for one of the 12 spots on the team. No doubt, Kayla was selected based on her talent on the basketball court, which Aquinas Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach, Mark Loria, can attest to.

“Kayla is an outstanding young lady who plays the game with passion and tenacity.  She has tremendous hand and footwork.  Her ability to finish at the rim and rebound has made her one of the best girls basketball players in Section V.”

 

The BCANY Tournament will be played August 4-6 in Johnson City, NY near Binghamton. The teams from each of the Sections will be divided into two, four group divisions for Pool Play and then, on Sunday, August 6, the Gold Medal Game, the Bronze Medal Game and Consolation Games will be played.

The Section V team, coached by Jeffrey Parizek (Kendall Head Coach), Jack Rosati (Honeoye Falls-Lima Assistant Coach), Kevan Sheppard (Bishop Kearney Head Coach), and Ryan Oneill (Former School of the Arts Head Coach), has not won the championship and Gold Medal since 2013 – they hope to capture both again this year.

 “Kayla is well deserving of the honor of playing on the BCANY basketball team,” said Coach Loria. “She will represent Aquinas and the BCANY basketball team with humility making her school, family, and team very proud!”
