35 New Members Commit to SSJ Women's Leadership Certification Program

The Sisters of Saint Joseph Women’s Leadership Certification Program inducted 35 new members at a commitment ceremony held on Thursday, December 5 in Aquinas’ auditorium.

The SSJ Women’s Leadership Program, which began at Nazareth Academy, has been available to young women in grades 10-12 at Aquinas for nine years now.

The program, led by Aquinas Librarian Julie Melton and a Leadership Advisory Committee, provides a guided opportunity for young women to experience personal growth and develop leadership skills that will help them throughout their life. This year’s program includes lunch meetings, a personal growth in leadership project, and one or two service activities.

During the time together, the young women learn leadership skills through a variety of topical and relevant discussions, writing experiences, and other activities. Those that complete at least two years in the program receive a special cord and a certificate of completion at graduation from Aquinas. Many of the young ladies' projects will be included in their Capstone portfolios. The Sisters and Aquinas are very proud to offer this special experience to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

We’d like to thank Sister Eileen Daly SSJ, President of the Sisters of St. Joseph for her remarks and being part of the celebration. Please join us in congratulating the young women for their focus and their efforts as they choose to work toward the honor of certification.
