Cook Named Executive Director of Alumni Relations & Development

Aquinas is pleased to announce that Anthony Cook, Ed.D. has accepted the position of Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Development at The Aquinas Institute.

Within the newly created role, Cook will be responsible for the planning and implementation of an integrated approach to development and alumni-relations programs to maximize support for the school and Foundation. He will oversee Aquinas’ annual fund, major gifts and gift planning, endowment, capital campaigns, alumni and constituent relations efforts, stewardship, and advancement services. He will report directly to Aquinas President, Michael Daley.

Cook, who is the Superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Rochester, announced the news in a letter to Catholic-school families in early August.

“In reflecting on the 15 years I have dedicated to Catholic education, I’m grateful for the collaboration and enthusiasm in our school communities. I am pleased that I will continue to serve and support Catholic education in this new role,” he said in his letter.

While his role is new, Cook has long been part of the Aquinas family. After graduating from Aquinas in 1999, he returned to teach social studies in 2004 and eventually became the dean of students of Aquinas’ junior high school when it opened in 2008. In addition, Cook coached varsity track and field, and freshman football at Aquinas for many years. Cook left Aquinas in 2011 to serve as Principal at Seton Catholic School. He has been in his current role as Superintendent of Catholic schools since 2013.

Cook holds a doctorate in education from the University of Rochester and a master's degree in educational administration from the University of Notre Dame. He also holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the State University of New York College at Geneseo.

In discussing his return to Aquinas Cook said, “I’m returning to a school that has been a second home for me and my family. AQ is a special place and it will be an honor to further the mission of my alma mater.”

He will begin his role on September 3.
