Update and Change to Student/Parent Handbook – ELECTRONIC DEVICES Policy
Effective beginning Monday, February 25, 2019:
Students may not use OR have visible any sort or type of headphone and/or earbud device in school hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms, or the auditorium at any time. Students may only use headphone devices in classroom locations with expressed consent of the classroom teacher. Devices may be used in “Free Use Zones” as outlined in the policy.
Consequences for violation:
Failure to comply with this policy will result in the PEDs being confiscated by school officials and additional consequences from JUG up to and including suspension, expulsion, and/or involvement of law enforcement may apply. Use or possession during assessments will also result in a grade of zero.
Confiscated headphone/earbud devices may not be retrieved under any circumstance. Students must exhibit responsibility for misuse of privilege. Students who violate this policy will also lose the privilege of having access to Personal Electronic Devices during the school day.
Communication of Policy Change:
Communication of this change will be through the Principal’s weekly e-blast, in-person to student body during all school weekly gathering “Kumbaya”, posting in all classrooms, and via PA announcement to the school. The policy will also be posted changed in the current edition in the handbook.
