Two former Aquinas football players will be vying for National Championships in college football in the coming weeks.

Earnest Edwards, a member of AQ’s class of 2016, is a starting wide receiver and kick returner for the Maine Black Bears. Maine, ranked #7 in the Football Championship Subdivision, will play in the NCAA FCS National Semifinal game against #3 Eastern Washington, this Saturday, December 15th, at 2:00 pm on ESPN2.

Earnest has been an offensive dynamo for the Black Bears this year. He leads the team with 49 receptions for 793 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also has 137 yards rushing with two touchdowns and also two kickoff returns for touchdowns for a total of 14 TDs.

Jamir Jones, a teammate and fellow 2016 classmate of Earnest, has helped Notre Dame head to the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision National Semifinal. The junior defensive lineman’s No. 3 ranked Fighting Irish will take on the No. 2 ranked Clemson Tigers in the FBS National Semifinal at the Cotton Bowl Classic on Saturday, December 29th at 4:00 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Please join us in congratulating these AQ grads and cheering them on in their quests for National Championships.
