Weather Related Closing Procedures
School closing announcements will be made through the local media. Please note that if school is canceled or closed, Aquinas Institute will be listed specifically as weather conditions vary widely across the county. Additionally, the closing will be posted on both AquinasInstitute.com and the Aquinas Facebook page. Aquinas will also send automated voice messages and SMS texts to alert parents of weather related school closings. To receive texts parents must opt-in. Please do so by texting 'YES' to 68453.
School closings, as well as cancellation of activities/athletic events and evening programs, are based on the anticipated impact of inclement weather or other emergencies that may interfere with the health and safety of our students and/or staff. Every effort is made to make such decisions in a timely manner. Should the principal make the decision to cancel after school and evening activities, announcements will be made in the school, automated voice messages will go out to parents, and texts will be sent to parents who have opted-in to receive them. Please establish a dismissal procedure with your son/daughter in the event of after school cancellations.
In the event that a sporting event/practice is canceled due to inclement weather, coaches will make an effort to alert parents by email, phone and through AquinasInstitute.com. While coaches err on the side of caution when making these decisions, please keep in mind that conditions do vary from place to place. Parents should not let their students attend practices or scrimmages if they feel the weather conditions are dangerous.
NOTE: If school is canceled, ALL after school sports, clubs, and activities – regardless of location – will be canceled as well.
