Honors for AQ Hockey Players & Coach

On the heels of its first winning season in five years, the accolades for the Aquinas hockey program just keep coming.

Corey Lewis (forward) ’18 and Jake LeBlanc (defense) ’18 were selected for the 1st Team All-League team in Division 4. Additionally, Corey was awarded the Pugliese Sportsmanship Award, which is presented to the player who best exemplifies true sportsmanship during the hockey season. The award is voted on by the teams in each division.

Corey and Jake were also selected to play in the CURE Childhood Cancer Association’s 31st Annual Select Memorial Hockey Game, which invites Section V’s top senior players to face off in an All-Star match. That game will take place on Thursday, March 15 beginning at 7:00 PM at Bill Gray’s Regional Ice Plex.

Aquinas hockey players Nick Cira and Aidan Kopacz, both juniors, were recently selected to play in the 14th Annual Scotty Bowman Showcase on Thursday, March 22 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. The Showcase will feature three all-star hockey games between players from Buffalo and Rochester. Players were individually nominated and rated by a group of hockey coaches from both cities based on their play this past season.

Last, but certainly not least, Aquinas Hockey Coach, Chuck Dossier, was named Division 4 Coach of the Year. “I feel honored,” said Coach Dossier of the award. “I can assure you that I share this with all the coaching staff, Mr. Bianchi and Mr. Nuccitelli. I could not have received this award without the support and commitment from everyone. Most of all I share this with every player who is out there working hard for the team each and every day.”
