Student Written Play Wins NYSTEA Contest

Congratulations to Emma Jo Brake '18
The New York State Theatre Education Association (NYSTEA) has selected the winning plays from this year’s student writing contest and among them, is a script written by Aquinas senior, Emma Jo Brake. The 5-minute script called “Brain Talk,” explores Sigmund Freud’s theory of the id, ego and super-ego in the mind of a teenager.

Emma’s play will be produced and performed by other New York State high school students at the 2018 NYSTEA Student Conference at the Villa Roma Resort, January 5-7, 2018. These students will audition to perform the play under the direction of NYSTEA teachers.

We commend Emma on her selection from over 40 play submissions and wish her all the best at this year’s NYSTEA Student Conference.

Emma Jo is no stranger to the stage - both on stage and behind the scenes. Her credits include: Sound of Music (Sister Bertha/build), Snoopy (crew), Almost, Maine (Glory), The Miracle Worker (Helen Keller), Godspell (Emma Jo), Seussical (Sour Kangaroo), Fiddler on the Roof (Chava), AQ One Acts.
