Located in the Robert B. Wegman '37 Fitness Center, the weight room—also known as the fitness room—provides an invaluable resource for our students to build strength, conditioning and learn discipline with the different programs provided by the strength and conditioning staff. The fitness center is led by coach Frank Lupiani and his staff: Alex Borrelli, Marcus Blackwood, James LoBrutto and Heidi Sayers.
The 12,000 square foot facility is used year-round for AQ team sports and PE classes and is open to the entire student body and AQ employees. Over 70% of AQ students participate in sports and our Strategic Plan promotes healthy lifestyles utilizing good nutrition and physical activity.
Coach Lupiani, who has been here since the Fitness Center opened in 2009, brings 30 years of coaching and sports conditioning experience to the AQ athletic program. In addition to his in-depth knowledge of age-appropriate development of strength, speed and power working with young athletes in the state-of-the-art Robert B. Wegman '37 Fitness Center, he and his staff help all Aquinas students learn to appreciate fitness for life and reach their full athletic potential. Frank Lupiani is a Certified Junior Athlete Training Specialist, Children's Physical Fitness Specialist and Renegade Style Training Specialist, and has worked with some of the top strength and conditioning coaches in the country.
