Student Spotlight – Nik Smith ‘23

Nik Smith ’23, a member of Boy Scouts, is just inches away from earning his Eagle Scout advancement, with only one board of review left. Eagle Scouts are the highest achievement attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program. Nik’s project involved refurbishing 10 raised beds for a church that raises produce for the Irondequoit Food Cupboard.
Nik is an AQ Mission Bouts boxer and the youngest captain appointed to receive the Al Broccuto award. Furthermore, Nik has received the St. Joseph the Worker award twice for outstanding community service. He is a lead altar server at Aquinas, attended the Teen Police Academy this summer with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, and attended the National Youth Leadership Training through Boy Scouts. This program focuses on leadership trainings and exercises that Scouts can bring back home to train their troops.
In addition, Nik is a crew chief in Aquinas’ technical theatre program, where he is a leader and mentor to other students. He is also an accomplished member of both our band and choral programs.
