NHS Inducts 33 New Members
Congratulations to all!
Aquinas’ chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed 33 new members to its ranks at an induction ceremony on November 28.
As members of the National Honor Society (NHS), students are committed to maintaining the four pillars of scholarship, service, character, and leadership. To do this, students must maintain a cumulative weighted GPA of 92 from the end of tenth grade through the remainder of their NHS membership, must show exceptional character as reflected in their disciplinary record, must exhibit leadership qualities, and must also perform significant hours of community service.
One example of the leadership and service exemplified by NHS members is the peer tutoring center they run before and after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is available to all students who may need a little extra help with their studies. In addition, senior members of NHS also have the opportunity each year to take part in a service trip, which in past years has involved building houses in Jamaica and serving the underprivileged citizens of Gallup, New Mexico.
