Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

The Aquinas Institute Class of 2026 officially joined the ranks of Aquinas alumni on Saturday, June 6, 2026 during Commencement exercises held at the historic Eastman Theatre. What began as a rainy Rochester morning soon gave way to sunshine and blue skies, creating a fitting backdrop for a day centered on achievement, gratitude, and new beginnings.

The ceremony brought together graduates, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to celebrate a class that has demonstrated remarkable resilience, leadership, and service throughout their time at Aquinas.

In his welcome remarks, Principal Ted Mancini ’88, P’26 reflected on the unique journey of the Class of 2026. As sixth graders, they experienced the disruptions and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, yet they persevered and emerged stronger because of it. He noted that members of the class collectively completed more than 13,000 hours of community service and reminded graduates that their most meaningful accomplishment is not measured by awards or accolades, but by the people they have become, the relationships they have formed, and the connections they have made along the way.

The ceremony also recognized Distinguished Alumnus Jurij Kushner ’68, who shared reflections on life’s many crossroads. He encouraged graduates to move forward with confidence, guided by their faith, their families, and the strong foundation built during their years at Aquinas.

Valedictorian Michael Fahoury ’26 addressed his classmates, reflecting on the importance of the supportive friendships, mentors, and opportunities that shaped his Aquinas experience. He credited Aquinas with helping him grow academically, spiritually, and personally while providing opportunities such as AP coursework, Capstone projects, and leadership experiences that prepared him for future success. Michael will attend the University of Rochester, where he plans to study biology on a pre-medical track.

Salutatorian Preston Vu ’26 reflected on the lessons learned through challenge and perseverance. He shared how faculty members, classmates, and the broader Aquinas community encouraged him to embrace growth, learn from failure, and develop confidence in his abilities. Preston will attend St. John Fisher University in its 2+4 Pharmacy Program, majoring in pre-pharmacy.

Commencement speaker Marty Kennedy ’74 delivered a memorable address that blended humor, wisdom, and AQ pride. Joking that friends asked if he would use AI or artificial intelligence to write his speech, Kennedy replied, “Yes, of course… Aquinas Intelligence.” He reminded graduates that Aquinas becomes part of who they are and challenged them to carry three lessons forward: be grateful—even for life’s failures, stay curious by continuing to ask questions and learn from others, and never forget to love their school.

Throughout the ceremony, the themes of gratitude, service, faith, and connection were woven together in speeches, music, and moments of reflection. The Class of 2026 also celebrated significant accomplishments, including more than $13 million in scholarships earned and countless contributions to the Aquinas community through academics, athletics, ministry, arts, leadership, and service.

As graduates crossed the stage and received their diplomas, they became part of a proud tradition that stretches across generations. While their paths now lead in many different directions, they leave Aquinas connected by shared experiences, lasting friendships, and the values of Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge.

Congratulations to the Aquinas Institute Class of 2026. Aquinas Evermore!
