Aquinas Winter Teams Earn NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Recognition

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) has announced its Winter 2026 Scholar-Athlete teams and individual honorees, recognizing outstanding academic achievement among student-athletes across New York State—and the Aquinas Institute is proud to be among them.

This winter, a total of 3,409 teams and 40,013 student-athletes statewide earned Scholar-Athlete distinction by achieving an academic average of 90.0 or higher. To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete team, at least 75% of a team’s roster must hold an average of 90.0 or above.

Aquinas’ winter teams demonstrated an exceptional commitment to excellence both in the classroom and in competition. We proudly recognize the following teams and number of student-athletes who earned Scholar-Athlete status:

Boys Basketball | 8 Students

Boys Bowling | 6 Students

Boys Ice Hockey | 13 Students

Boys Indoor Track & Field | 12 Students

Competitive Cheerleading | 16 Students

Girls Basketball | 5 Students

Girls Indoor Track & Field | 12 Students

These accomplishments reflect the discipline, focus, and balance our student-athletes bring to their academic and athletic pursuits each day.

We congratulate all of our student-athletes and coaches on this outstanding achievement and thank them for representing Aquinas with pride.
