On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, we proudly celebrated four exceptional student-athletes during our Aquinas National Signing Day Ceremony. Surrounded by classmates, coaches, teachers, family, friends, and local media – including PrimeTime585 and RToombs Photography – these seniors made their official commitments to continue their athletic and academic careers at the Division I and Division II levels.
President David Eustis opened the ceremony with words of congratulations and encouragement, followed by Athletic Director Anthony Bianchi ’81, who spoke about the dedication, discipline, and leadership each of these athletes has displayed throughout their years at Aquinas.
Let’s take a moment to recognize each of them and their accomplishments:
Jake Gibson — Canisius University, Division I Lacrosse
Up first was Jake Gibson, who has committed to play Division I lacrosse at Canisius University, home of the Griffs in Buffalo, New York.
Known as “Gibby,” Jake has been playing lacrosse since he was seven years old. He has competed with FCA Lacrosse, 3D Upstate, and the Churchville-Chili Club team. His lacrosse journey began memorably in 2016, when he volunteered—much to his parents’ surprise—to play goalie in his very first game. That day, Jake was “lights out” between the pipes, and he’s never left that spot since.
During his Aquinas career, Jake has been named to the All-Tournament Team twice, earned three Defensive Player of the Week awards, and Athlete of the Week honors, while also helping lead the 2024 Sectional Championship team. With over 500 career saves, he is closing in on the school record for most career saves.
Off the field, Jake is a member of the St. Basil Club for academic achievement and the Core Team, which supports Aquinas’ mission through fellowship and faith. His favorite subject is social studies, and while he is currently undecided on his major, he is considering business management with aspirations of becoming an attorney.
Congratulations, Jake — Aquinas is proud of you and excited to see your next chapter as a Griff!
Jeffery Logan III — Central Connecticut State University, Division I Football
Next, we celebrated Jeffery Logan III, who has committed to play Division I football at Central Connecticut State University, home of the Blue Devils, in New Britain, Connecticut.
Jeffery has been playing football for 12 years, beginning with the Ogden Bears Youth Football Team, where he learned the importance of teamwork, leadership, and perseverance—values that continue to define his play today.
One of his most memorable moments came in 2024, when Aquinas captured the Sectional Championship and Jeffery was honored as MVP of the game—a recognition that fueled his drive to keep striving for excellence both on and off the field.
Beyond athletics, Jeffery has earned a place on the honor roll for two consecutive years, balancing academics with his athletic commitments. He credits his family and friends for being his strongest supporters, motivating him to always give his best.
At Central Connecticut State University, Jeffery plans to major in Exercise Science while continuing his football career.
Congratulations, Jeffery — your leadership, determination, and heart have made Aquinas proud!
Savannah Sweet — Roberts Wesleyan University, Division II Soccer
Our third honoree, Savannah Sweet, has committed to play Division II soccer at Roberts Wesleyan University, home of the RedHawks in Rochester, New York.
Savannah has played soccer since the age of four and currently competes for Western New York Flash ECNL/RL. At Aquinas, she has been a four-year varsity soccer player, a two-time Section V champion, and this season alone has recorded 14 goals and 4 assists, including two in the quarterfinals and four in the semifinals. As her team celebrates the Section V Class A title, Savannah continues to add to her impressive record as the Little Irish advance through the state tournament.
She also competed on the varsity track team, helping to break a 20-year-old school record in the 4x800 relay. One of Savannah’s most memorable experiences was meeting soccer star Alex Morgan.
Academically, she is a Student Ambassador, a Women’s Leadership Program member, and captain of the varsity soccer team. Savannah has received the St. Joseph the Worker Community Service Award for four consecutive years and recognition for participation in Honor Flight Mail Call.
In the community, Savannah volunteers at Pine Brook Elementary, helping students with reading and activities, and has contributed over 40 hours at Rochester General Hospital. Outside of school, she enjoys camping, boating, jet skiing, and spending time with her parents, Jaime and Michael, and her sister, Alexandria.
Savannah will major in nursing at Roberts Wesleyan while continuing her soccer career with the RedHawks.
Congratulations, Savannah — you make Aquinas proud!
Caleb Wood — Molloy University, Division II Lacrosse
Our final honoree, Caleb Wood, has committed to play Division II lacrosse at Molloy University, home of the Lions in Rockville Centre, New York.
Caleb’s athletic journey began on the ice at age three and expanded to lacrosse at age seven. He has played for Spencerport Youth Lacrosse, six seasons with FCA, and three with 3D Upstate. He has competed in the World Series of Youth Lacrosse and represented Western New York in the 2023 and 2024 Excelsior Games, helping his team win the championship in 2023.
At Aquinas, Caleb made his varsity debut as an eighth grader and helped lead his team to a Section V Championship as a sophomore. He also excelled on the Varsity Hockey Team, serving as assistant captain and captain.
Caleb is a two-time Michael ’64 and Kathleen Piehler Scholarship recipient and consistently earns high honors. Known for his selflessness, energy, and heart, Caleb credits his family, friends, teammates, and coaches for helping him reach his goals.
He plans to major in education at Molloy University and hopes to continue sharing his passion for athletics by coaching youth hockey and lacrosse.
Congratulations, Caleb — your Aquinas family is proud of you!
A Celebration of Hard Work, Leadership, and Faith
As the ceremony came to a close, Mr. Bianchi invited everyone to join in one final round of applause for the four signees.
“We’re incredibly proud of each of you for your dedication, leadership, and the example you’ve set for your teammates and the entire Aquinas community,” said Bianchi. “Thank you to all of our families, friends, coaches, and supporters for being here today to celebrate these remarkable achievements.”
The event concluded with official photos of each athlete and their families, capturing a moment that marks both an ending and an exciting new beginning.
Congratulations once again to Jake, Jeffery, Savannah, and Caleb — we can’t wait to see where your journeys take you next.
