Monroe County Sheriff’s Department vs. Rochester Fire Department

Make-A-Wish Charity Basketball Game held at Aquinas
Aquinas Institute will be hosting a charity basketball game between the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Rochester Fire Department on Saturday, January 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wegman-Napier Gymnasium.  Tickets for the event are $5 and all proceeds from the game will go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation to help make six-year-old Cecily Fortunato’s wish come true.

Cecily has been diagnosed with Long QT Syndrome (LQTS), which is a type of Sudden Arrythmia Death Syndrome.  LQTS is a genetic disorder that is described as a glitch in the electrical recharging phase of the heart.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been able to grant Cecily her wish of going to Disney World, where she will be getting the full princess treatment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and having dinner in Cinderella's Castle.

Before she leaves for her trip this month, Cecily has been working with 13WHAM's Ashley Doerzbacher in this year's Wish Star Battle, competing against Buffalo to see who can raise more money for Make-A-Wish of Western New York.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western New York grants approximately 150 wishes every year for children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience.
