Artist in Residence & AQ Students Collaborate

Corinne Fallone '11 shares expertise
Aquinas alumnae Corinne Fallone has returned to AQ to share her love of art with students. The 2011 grad who now makes her living as an artist right here in Rochester, is collaborating with the students from Drawing & Painting and Ceramics & Sculpture to create an 8’ x 8’ mural in the Learning Center.

Over the past week, Corinne has sketched her design called “Break Out of the Shell,” which depicts two contrasting emotions and the letting go of insecurities to be a positive force in the world. Students are now in the process of painting the mural, which will be done in phases. Eventually, they will be using molding paste and palette knife strokes to create texture.

Students from ceramics & sculpture will be responsible for creating the portion of the mural that represents insecurities. Each student will create a sculpture out of cardboard and/or foam that will extend out about six inches from the mural and later be plastered over. They will then write an insecurity on their sculpture using the lettering that Corinne has been practicing with them in class.
