Band Students Visit Eastman

An unforgettable experience with the Eastman Wind Ensemble
At the end of September, students from the Aquinas Concert Band and Wind Project took a field trip to the Eastman School of Music. Prior to the trip, students in period 4 concert band discussed an article about the historical significance of the development of the Eastman Wind Ensemble.

While at Eastman, the AQ musicians toured the school and observed the Eastman Wind Ensemble rehearse in Kodak Hall. The repertoire rehearsed included Holst’s First Suite in E-Flat, which the Concert Band performed last spring.

The students had Kodak Hall all to themselves and observed the ensemble from the ground floor, the balcony, and even right on stage! Before and after the rehearsal the students had a Q&A session with the conductor and director of the Eastman wind ensembles, Dr. Mark Davis Scatterday.

Come check out the Concert Band students and the rest of our AQ instrumentalists as they perform on December 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Thomas F. Bell ’57 Auditorium!
